WRITERS & CONTRIBUTIONS
We warmly encourage people to contribute original content to the Bickering on Sea community, and would love to hear from you if you have a story or idea to share.
We're not in the business of editing other people's work, nor limiting their imaginations. All we expect is a spell check to have been used and at least an effort for correct English grammar (about which we might make the odd suggestion if you choose to contribute).
We would say, however, that we will not publish work that we find sexually or violently explicit, offensive (in our opinion) or simply not very good. If it is integral to your story, however, we may allow ideas and themes more suited to mature readers, and so might put age appropriate warnings on such content.
We are looking for content that is interesting, fun and accessible for all visitors to the Bickering on Sea website.
As the Parish Council of Bickering on Sea, we reserve the right to refuse any contribution which we simply do not feel fits in with or complements our library. Our decision is final and we will not enter into further discussion with authors. Authors whose work has been rejected are welcome to submit future work, but should bear in mind any reasons we may have given as to why their rejected work was not suitable for Bickering on Sea.
The Parish Council are very happy for contributors to involve existing characters from Bickering on Sea in their stories, even, at times, to kill them off. However, if you wish to do this, please check first with us to ensure that there are no stories already in development concerning those characters which would clash with their and other character’s futures. We have a sensitive space time continuum to preserve, you know.
What we're looking for...
We want contributions that are...
Interesting - Bickering on Sea is perhaps best suited to receive written content, since it is a story universe, but we love other content too. If we find it interesting, then we hope our visitors will find it interesting. If in doubt, get in touch.
Fun - Everyone wants to enjoy their visit to the seaside.
Accessible - Story contributions need to be accessible. Please bear in mind that Bickering on Sea welcomes visitors of all ages. If we feel your work is less well suited to children and teens, we may add age appropriate certification to allow visitors some choice.
Ready - The Parish Council work on a voluntary basis and would prefer to be writing themselves. Please, as far as possible, ensure your contribution is ready for publication (spellchecked, grammar checked, and in the correct format). That way, we can post it to a venue in Bickering on Sea more quickly.
Good - We realise that, to some extent, the quality of work is determined by the reader, but we want the content in Bickering on Sea to be as good as possible. Please do your best!
Thank you so much for your contribution. We can't wait to look at it and welcome you to the friendly and encouraging community of Bickering on Sea.

Please note:
You may wish to set your story in or around Bickering on Sea and its neighbouring villages, or somewhere else entirely. Applications to kill off, involve, or generally dispose of, existing Bickering on Sea residents should be made in advance, before you draft your story. Please gain Parish Council approval before including them in your literary, dastardly or nefarious schemes, in case there are already stories about them in development.
