CRIME STORIES AT BICKERING POLICE STATION

Welcome to Bickering Police Station, which houses crime fiction short stories, including one or two adventures of Detective Inspector George Rough, who has been in charge of the small but enthusiastic Police team at Bickering on Sea since 2017. Members of the public are required to proceed in an orderly and law-abiding fashion throughout their visit, but are welcome to peruse all the recorded crimes on offer at their leisure. The crime stories here are, like the sentences passed in nearby Branchester Magistrates Court, relatively short. Crime fiction stories are also located on the shelves of the Library

If you would like to contribute a full account of a fictional crime which you, or others, have witnessed, suspected, dreamt of or perpetrated, please visit the Contributions Office at nearby Bickering on Sea Heritage Museum to make your initial statement or confession.

Bickering Police Station first opened in June 1837, in a small beach hut on Fisherman’s Quay, next door to The Tides Inn. It moved to its current location on Cleves Street in 1897, where today’s purpose-built station, with offices and three holding cells, was constructed; by the local firm of C Bottomley and Sons, Master Builders. In 2009, plans were advanced to relocate the station to more modern premises in the town centre, but these were put on hold indefinitely, due to Government spending cuts.

Officer in Charge: Detective Inspector George D. P. Rough

Duty Officer: Police Sergeant William Fuller

Other officers: Detective Constable Aleena P. Khan, Police Constable James A. C. Penn

Bickering on Sea Police Station has jurisdiction over Bickering on Sea, Great Mithering, Gripings End, Lower Rankling, Much Heckling, Upper Rankling, and also Squabbling on the Wold, where there is a Police House, with limited opening hours, at 10 Mithering Lane.
