HUMOUR STORIES AT THE ANNE OF CLEVES
Welcome to the Anne of Cleves, the home of humour in Bickering on Sea. Not that the entire town isn’t a bit funny. If you enjoy a humorous story, we’re planning on having a few to choose from. It might be a mirthful tale of leprosy or Black Death; an amusing account of painting an Airfix model; or a hilarious recollection of the trials of stamp collecting. Do feel free to rummage through the stories and find one that tickles you.
You might have your own chortle-worthy story to tell, in which case, please wander over to the Contributions page to discover how to go about submitting a story.
Since 1987, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, we have held a comedy open mike, and it’s always been very popular. Dave Allen, Les Dawson, Cannon and Ball, Michael McIntyre, Sarah Millican, Henning Wehn and Milton Jones are just a few of the famous comedians who have never heard of the place, let alone appeared here. However, this is where comedians such as Phineas Crabbe, Ian Fuller, Dave Penn and Edith Squirrel have appeared.
Mind you, Miss Squirrell was just that one time, and she was very, very drunk, after someone spiked the punch at the Library Christmas party. Shame she didn’t take it up professionally. The old girl was seriously funny. Best not to mention it to her if you want to visit the Library.
