BICKERING LIBRARY
Welcome to Bickering Library, home to all of the collections of writings from Bickering on Sea, whatever their genre. Visitors are warmly invited to enjoy reading the content of the shelves and finding areas and genres that interest you. We truly hope you enjoy your visit.
Bickering Library is a central hub, where visitors to Bickering on Sea can access all of the content, which will also be housed at various locations in the town relating to genre.
Bickering on Sea is always open to fresh contributions which will, when accepted, reside both in the library and at the appropriate venue for the genre of story, poem, or form of contribution. Please visit the Contributions Page to find out how you might become part of the life and history of Bickering on Sea.
I would remind visitors to the Library that the copyrights of all stories, scripts and creative efforts have been asserted by their authors. Please, do not reproduce other people's work without permission. If you would like to ask permission to reproduce, however, please contact Bickering on Sea.
We are so blessed to have so many unusually creative residents and visitors to our lovely seaside town.
Our wonderful library was gifted to the people of the town by Lady Marjorie de Coverlet, an antecedent of the later, better known, Lady Constance. She was a philanthropist and always very keen to make clear to all visitors that this library was in no way a tax write off, but given out of the kindness of her heart. In fact, so keen was she that we are still obliged, more than 100 years later, to state this "fact" at every opportunity.
If you find that you are unable to act with decorum and courteousness during your visit, it will not have escaped your notice that Bickering on Sea has a very fine set of stocks, just next to the Pier, which are in perfect working order. I, as the Senior Librarian, can think of no better use for them than for ritual and very public humiliation of any who dare disturb the peace of this hallowed sanctuary of learning.
I'm sorry to say that I am unable to help you in person at the moment, which is why I have written this missive for your information, but please feel free to browse our shelves. The people of Bickering on Sea are very proud of their contributors and this library welcomes visitors at all hours... on the condition that they behave!
Yours sincerely,
Edith Squirrel (Miss)
Senior Librarian and Chairwoman of The Bickering Women's Guild
