ROMANTIC FICTION AT
BICKERING STATION
The golden age of steam has long been synonymous with romance and even romantic fiction. Here in Bickering on Sea, you will find that romance, unlike the station, is still in its prime. Love stories are freely available to be read and enjoyed by all.

The Station Tea Rooms are presided over by Miss Myrtle Bagot (83 and still rides a bicycle), only spinster daughter of the legendary Mrs Myrtle Bagot of Carnforth. Young Myrtle, as she is known locally, is a relative newcomer to Bickering, having moved here in 1972. Her scones are magnificent.
We recommend enjoying our romantic stories with a slice of cake and nice cup of Darjeeling or a frothy latte – though we’re told that a glass of prosecco or a pint of real ale can be equally romantic, and are therefore just as acceptable.
Bickering Station always extends a warm welcome to the romantic at heart and invites those who wish to tell their own romantic stories to peruse the Contributions guidelines for aspiring Bickering on Sea authors.

Bickering on Sea was once served by a full steam train service, but, sadly, the station was decommissioned in 1964 as part of the now notorious Beeching cuts. Bickering residents wishing to take the train must now travel by car or bus to Branchester Station, which is on the main line.
